main characters : ateez
hongjoong
As of right now we don't know much about Hongjoong's past - all we know is he lost his family at some point and hasn't seen them since. He's a lider / captain figure both to Ateez and HalaTeez (= The Black Pirates). His character is overall a bit mysterious due to his connection to HalaTeez and lack of information on, though he still is a trustworthy and loyal one.
seonghwa
Much like Hongjoong we don't know much about Seonghwa's past, though we're given a bit of insight into what his personality is like: reserved, hard on himself and sort of stubborn. His day-to-day life consisting of the same exact routine (everything detailed in various to-do lists) and being overall monotonous, mostly due to him restricting himself from a lot of things - that is until the episode shown in the Diary Film and he meets the other members.
yunho
Yunho's dream wasn't always music, in fact the main reason for him to pursue music was his brother's accident - this is a major part of Yunho's story that shapes his character. At 05:07 PM (as implied in the Diary Film) Yunho's brother has a car accident and dies - Yunho blames himself for it and this affects him for a good part of the storyline).
yeosang
Yeosang's lack of freedom is a big factor that shaped his character. As seen in the Diary Film, there's a comparison between Yeosang and birds trapped in golden cages: Yeo has strict parents that restrict his liberty in pretty much all aspects, though that's masked by either their probable wealth or a false sense of freedom they give him. However, Yeosang finds the other members, consequently finding his freedom (that is shown to be the most important thing to him).
san
A big thing about San's past is how, due to his father (I'm assuming his father's job), he had to move a lot - he never stayed long in 1 place so he never got to get too close to anyone, when he did he'd have to move again. Though when he meets Ateez, and almost moves away again, he chooses to turn back and stay with them.
Something also important to his character is Bobo - now what/who is Bobo, lux? yeah I honestly don't know either it may be a pet, a stuffed animal, an imaginary friend I really can't tell.
mingi
Mingi is a very complicated character. He is very emotional, impulsive and honestly really a really sad character (in the beginning). He didn't have many friends, was always getting into fights or trouble and, according to himself, didn't care about anything, at all (not even about himself or his well-being).
There's this one time (shown in Diary Film) where he has a big fight with Jongho, where the cause is Mingi saying things like "the time they spent together meant nothing to him" - this was an attempt at self-sabotaging, something he might do again in the storyline so keep this in mind. Though, despite all of this I'd like to believe after the Fever Series he got a lot better and maybe happier.
wooyoung
Wooyoung is a pretty well-known dancer, participates in a lot of street performances / competitions and was even contacted by some entertainment agencies. Something important about his character in the beginning (and his relationship with a few of the members) is his stage fright and how he deals with it - he often imagined the members there with him to calm him down (showing how important they are to him).
jongho
Jongho is a pretty ambitious guy and has 1 dream (in the beginning) - basketball. He played in a basketball team until he got injured and was told he could not play anymore - this takes a big toll on him. He then finds his second dream - music. This second dream is even more important to him and his character expresses a few times how scared he is of losing this too (this was a main factor for his reaction in his fight with mingi).

side characters
the black pirates: halateez
HalaTeez (that are also known as [members of] the Black Pirates), are a group of Anarchists from Strictland - they are also another version of Ateez (meaning, they're the version of Ateez from this dimension [since there's most likely 1 version of them per dimension]). They go against their repressive government and due to that are wanted. They're not 'bad guys', quite the opposite really, but might not be 100% "good" either - they're morally grey but overall have similar principles and objectives to Ateez.
As of right now we don't know anything about their specific backgrounds or individual stories.

android guardians

You know the little white masked guys you see at the end of some MVs? Yeah those are the Android Guardians (sometimes referred to as "white-clad giants" by Ateez). They're most likely not even human. Their main objective is to capture anyone who opposed to their government in any way (so, HalaTeez and later Ateez) and also to capture the Cromer.
left eye

Left Eye is a character from another dimension (meaning: not Ateez's original one, but HalaTeez's one). He is the manager of the Strictland (a place in HalaTeez's dimension, it's the place shown in Fireworks) dump - though before this, he used to run a small unique brand shop. The turning point for his character was his daughter's death - she was hit by a car while she was out with her father. After this Left Eye started purposefully inhaling the yellow gas (a hallucinogenic gas) in Strictland to 'continue seeing his daughter'.
Though a bit later in the story he does get better and is a really nice and useful man (will go into more detail in another section of the carrd).
the grimes siblings
A pair of young siblings, a girl and a boy, also from HalaTeez's dimension (Strictland specifically). Wooyoung describes the girl as "matching well with the moonlight".
! more details about them and how they met Ateez will also be included in another section
henry jo
Henry Jo is the leader of the religious organization 'Sciensalvar'. He, like many other characters, is after the Cromer - though he seems to have a lot more information on the hourglass than all the other characters. He shows up for the first time during the Fever Series (specifically the epilogue) and doesn't really pop up afterwards (in the Treasure Series) but there's still a chance he shows up in later series (next comebacks).
